Bedroom Bench - For My Comfort

Buying furniture for home use is a choice that needs careful thinking. You don't want to make your house packed with all the furniture that you wanted to buy which promises to become useful, but instead adds chaos to your home.
One of the furniture that one may find particularly useful is the bedroom bench. Benches are usually seen and used outdoors but it can also be useful in the room where you relax and pamper yourself to regain the energy for the next day. It has numerous uses to offer in spite of its modest figure, which can maximize the benefits and comforts that you can experience.

Folding Snack Trays

The bedroom bench can serve as additional storage for your clothes, bed sheets and pillows if there is inadequate space in the closet. In another case, you could place on it all the clothes and things that are needed for the next day. This will make it convenient to locate them in the morning especially if you are in a hurry. If you are the kind of person that does something before dozing off to sleep (i.e. reading magazines), you can use the bedroom bench as a substitute for the bedside table (in case you don't have one). You can place all the materials you need on it so that there is no need in getting up from the bed just to get something that is far from your reach. You can also use it when additional seats are needed for members of the family who want to chat with you in the room. In your child's room, it can serve as a place for displaying the stuff toys that your child cuddles before bedtime or as extra place for story books that you read to your child every night. Another good use of this long seat is as a food tray, especially if you love to watch movies in the comfort of the bed while having a snack, or if you just want to make a twist to the breakfast-in-bed cliché.

Folding Snack Trays

There are different kinds and types of a bedroom bench. There is a range for choices. It can be made of wood or made of metal, can be backless or not, or with cushions or without. The bench that you should get is the one that fits your style and needs. It is also good to put into consideration the design of the furniture and the decors so that the bench will blend with the bedroom's atmosphere. The material to where it is made is also important. Wooden benches last longer than the metal ones, because the latter one could accumulate rust over time. They also look stylish and comfortable. As for the cushions, it is better to have one, especially if the bench would sometimes serve as an extra seat. There are removable cushions available in the market, so the choice on this will not be that difficult.
A bedroom bench cannot be limited with the bench-beside-the-bed idea. It can also serve as a vanity bench, which is placed beside the mirror. This is the one seated upon when tidying yourself up in front of the mirror. The bench should be high enough for you to comfortably view half of your body in the mirror. Most vanity benches have cushions on it, but it really depends on your style and preference. Others may prefer their vanity benches to have supports in the back. This long seat can also be placed inside the bathroom for an added effect.

Aside from being an additional embellishment to the room, a bedroom bench truly serves as an additional luxury to your home.

Coffee Tables - Choosing the Right One is Easy

It's the one piece your living room is missing. Guests come over, sit down on the sofa and look down. There's no coffee table book to look through as they are waiting for you to prepare drinks. That's because there's no coffee table. Once you bring in a drink and a snack, there's no place for you to set down the tray, so you make your guest quickly select what they want. Then they need a place to put it. Instead of being able to set these items on the table in front of them, and be able to stay fully involved in the conversation, they are going to have to twist around to place their cup and napkin on the end table to the side of them. It's an awkward dance of the twist they will now be doing for the rest of their time here, minus the Chubby Checker music.

Folding Snack Trays

It's time to buy a coffee table.

Folding Snack Trays

Maybe it's the selection of coffee tables on the market that has turned you away until now. There are a lot of them out there. There are even stores that only sell coffee tables and seem to have a successful business going from it. But narrowing down the massive selection is not that hard. Start with the criteria you need and you will be easily able to pare down the list.

Shape - First, let's look at making sure the table goes with the look you already have in place. If you have a sectional sofa or scattered seating around a central area in your living room, you will likely want to look for oval or round coffee tables that are conducive to a social environment. If you have an L-shaped sectional, you may want to instead stick to rectangular coffee tables that will complement the furniture pieces.

Size - This is going to directly depend on the amount of space you have. If you have a great room you have a lot of flexibility to have a larger table. A smaller room can't pull this off. Likewise, your décor will come into play here. If you have low slung modern furniture pieces you want to have a smaller table so it won't distract from the overall picture. Also, look at the other furniture pieces you have. While the size of the room is a factor, so is proportion. You don't want to have some furniture pieces that overwhelm others. If you do guests will be paying less attention to the conversation and will be looking at your furnishings and wondering what's wrong.

When it comes to style of furniture that is a something you will likely not have a problem with, as you will be able to choose a look that goes with the rest of your décor.

The final consideration is if you would like coffee tables with extra features. For instance, if you watch a lot of TV, you may want one with the lift top so you can have a built in table to have your TV dinners while watching your favorite show. Another great feature is a drawer or shelf under the table for extra storage.

Sideboards and Serving Tables Make Entertaining Easy

When planning the menu for the party, plan foods that can be prepared in advance and served buffet-style. Use the sideboard to set up an easy buffet for guests to serve themselves. Add a few decorative touches such as silk flower garlands or votive candles.

Folding Snack Trays

If your party is a carry-in, with guests bringing food, be sure to have extra serving spoons available.

Folding Snack Trays

A discreetly-placed power strip can allow slow-cookers, warming trays, or buffet servers to keep food warm as needed. The long, narrow design of the sideboard makes it easy for guests to reach individual serving dishes in order to serve themselves.

Serving tables are ideal for placing dips and snacks in strategic locations throughout the party. If bringing food back and forth from the kitchen to replenish the buffet, rolling serving carts are an excellent choice. They'll also make cleanup easier after the party.

Whether you're serving dinner, or snack foods, be sure to offer a wide variety of choices. As a rule try to choose foods that are easy to eat. For example: instead of spaghetti, serve ziti or rotini. Bite size portions and finger foods make it easier for guests to enjoy the food without worrying about dribbling it down their fronts. Keep an eye on dip bowls or appetizer platters. Remove items that are starting to look "old" like dried out cheese, or deli meat that's starting to turn brown and curl around the edges.

If your sideboard is an antique one with a wooden top, protect it from spills with a decorative cloth runner. Clean up any puddles as soon as you notice them.

Sideboards and serving tables can help make entertaining easy and fun.

Coffee Tables Put Your Good Taste On Display

Your living room is as unique as you are. Whether your style reflects an intimate, urban space or a large country home, the coffee table is one indispensable item that sets the tone for your personal style. This statement piece is a "must have" for any common area. Contrary to their name, coffee tables are rarely used to just hold a cup of Joe or an aptly named coffee table book! With so many sizes and styles available, choosing the right one can be an overwhelming decision. The great selection of tables online will help you find the perfect pieces to complement your home.

Folding Snack Trays

When choosing coffee tables for your home, consider what other furniture is in the room. If you've already purchased your sofa, chairs or other seating furniture, the coffee table should fit with your theme and function. Do you have an L-shaped sofa or several overstuffed chairs? While rectangular tables are still the most popular, if you have guests over regularly, you may want to consider multiple pieces or a round table for circulation. What is the traffic flow? Will your guests both sit and stand in your living room? If you have just one table that is the focal point, make sure to choose one that is roughly the same height as your sofa cushions or slightly lower. The table should be just far enough from the seating area to reach over and grab a snack but spacious enough to circulate around it without banging your knees. Low coffee tables are popular in Europe, allowing a more casual approach to entertaining.

Folding Snack Trays

The traditional rectangular shape has been modified by designers through the years in a multitude of variations for good reason. If your coffee table needs to complement other pieces in your living space, this shape easily fits with many styles of furniture and is tremendously functional. Round tables encourage circulation and engage conversation; an oversized round table can even double as a dining area. Square coffee tables add a splash of sophistication and can break up other rectangular aspects of your living room such as doors and windows. Staggering the surface heights of tables heighten visual interest and increase function in your room. These rules of thumb will help you determine how your furniture fits in your personal space.

What's underneath your coffee table? Do you need a second level to hold magazines, books or stow away used trays of food for comfort or convenience? Some coffee tables include folding lids for extra storage underneath that still provide a clean look. Or would you rather be able to stretch your feet under your table or have room for Fido to relax and still be within petting reach? Recessed legs can help provide hidden space for these considerations.

Coffee table sets make a living room fun and versatile. You may find that nesting coffee tables provide a great solution; saving space but providing function for that Superbowl party or an intimate gathering. They can also be accent pieces to add a splash of color or texture to your room.

Finally, do you prefer wood, metal, glass, or a combination of these elements for your table? Do these materials match the fabric and wood of your seating, paint, trim and carpet? If you going to move the table frequently, you might want to choose a design that is lightweight and easy to pick up when clearing space for your yoga group or play space for small children.

Ciabatta - Italian 'Slipper' Bread For a Great Steak Sandwich

Your'e going to have to try my latest bread - ciabatta. I have to admit, I have tried this before and it was OK. But something was certainly missing. Something was just not right. You know how it is. You can't put your finger on it but you know... this isn't it! Well, I figured it all out yesterday and I want to share the results with you. Ciabatta!

Folding Snack Trays

For the uninitiated, ciabatta is a classic Italian peasant bread that requires a pre-fermentation and careful handling. When done right, it emerges from the oven with a hard crust (that softens as it cools) and a soft, slightly chewy, slightly sour, totally yummy interior. It is perfectly suited for sandwiches and in fact, if you were looking for a perfect bread for, say, a steak sandwich, this would be it. Jamie Oliver, in his first book The Naked Chef, has a recipe for maybe the best steak sandwich ever. I mean it! You should have this book just for this recipe! OK, maybe I'm getting over excited because it actually has lots of great recipes. But his choice of bread for the sandwich is none other than the ciabatta.

Folding Snack Trays

The word loosely translates from the Italian as 'slipper'. You know the broken-in old house slippers that are so comfortable. Ciabatta originates in the north of Italy, in the Lake Como region. The recipe I am writing about today is actually a combination of two recipes. The methods I used mostly followed those given in The King Arthur Flour Baker's Companion: The All-Purpose Baking Cookbook. I've mentioned this book before because it is so comprehensive. These guys really know their stuff! However, I felt their pre-ferment (called a biga) was too dry. And so I adopted and adapted the formula given by Peter Reinhard in The Bread Baker's Apprentice: Mastering the Art of Extraordinary Bread, which uses a much wetter dough. This recipe will take you all day or overnight but don't worry, most of the time the dough is sitting and going through the fermenting and rising process.

Here's what You'll Need
for the biga (starter)

1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups all purpose flour

For the starter, just mix all these ingredients together, cover, and let it sit at room temperature for about 12 hours or overnight.

The next day... add this to the fermented biga. By now it should be bubbly and have slightly sour smell. Also, when you pull at it, it is very stringy (that's our friend the gluten) and very sticky.

1 teaspoon active dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3/4 cups water
1 tbs. olive oil
2 cups all purpose flour

Mix it all together for 3 or 4 minutes in a stand up mixer. The dough is too sticky and stringy to mix by hand, and we want it to stay very 'slack', i.e. wet. After mixing, place it in a lightly oiled bowl turn to coat with the oil, and cover. It should now rise for 2 or 3 hours.

And 45 minutes later...and again...About every 45 minutes, very gently fold the dough to develop the gluten but not to release all the gas. We want the CO2 because it will form those wonderful bubbles when we bake the bread. About 45 minutes before baking, line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and divide the dough in half. Gently, pushing with your fingers, form each half into a rough rectangle shape (the slipper) and leave indentations with your fingers on each loaf. Let it now rise, covered, until bake time.

After folding and relaxing the soft dough for a few hours it is ready to bake. About half an hour before it finishes 'proofing', preheat the oven to 425F (220C). Ten minutes before baking, spray the inside of the oven with water to create a steamy oven. You should also spray a few times during the first 10 minutes of baking. Bake the loaves for a total of 25 minutes. They will be golden brown and have a hard crust.

Turn off the oven. Take the loaves off the tray and place on the oven rack. Then open the door slightly and let the bread cool in the oven. You won't be sorry.

OMG, it's so good! Time for a steak sandwich! Bye for now.

1 Great Tip For Making Fluffy Bread Balls

I can't tell how I was surprised by these mini balls when I first tried the recipe. I had tried several pogaca (small stuffed bread) recipes before this one, but this one was the best ever. The ones I tried before were not as soft as this one. These are so fluffy and tempting that you can even get up in the middle of the night to have one. It is always a great pleasure to see the very delighted face of people when they have the first bite. It is also a wonderful feeling to be sure that they will ask for the second or the third even for the fourth. One day, I put some of these to my lunch box and shared them with some colleagues. They ate the pogacas with big eyes, which means they can't believe how these simple looking balls can be that yummy. And the best thing about these pogacas is that they don't get stale easily. You will see that they are still so soft even after a week, so I generally make these on Sunday as a preparation for weekdays. I never leave for work without having breakfast and I get up easier knowing that my breakfast is already ready on the table. A cup of milk always goes very well with these magical balls.

Folding Snack Trays

Pogaca is a traditional savory pastry in Turkey just like simit and acma. All pastry shops here have these three as their main products. And people stop by these shops on the way to their work early in the morning to buy some of these.

Folding Snack Trays

Students can find these even at school canteens, so if they can't have breakfast as soon as they wake up at home, they have simit, acma or pogaca at school with a cup of tea. There are a few versions of pogaca with different fillings like feta cheese, kasar cheese (yellow cheese), potato or mince. It is even possible to find it with no filling. They may be big or small in size in pastry shops, but I prefer making them small as they look more cute in this way.

Now you may be wondering how these pogacas get that soft. The secret is hidden in its dough mixture. This recipe, from a Turkish food magazine called Lezzet suggests using mineral water instead of regular water.

Fluffy Pogaca

Ingredients

For its dough:

- 4 cups flour

- ¼ cup warm milk

- 1 tbsp dry instant yeast

- ½ cup vegetable oil

- 1 tbsp sugar

- 1 tsp salt

- ¾ cup mineral water

For its filling:

- Half bunch of parsley

- 1 ½ cup feta cheese

For coating their top:

- 1 egg yolk

- Poppy seeds

Mix sugar and yeast with milk. Combine all the dough ingredients including this milk mixture and mix them well. You can add a little more flour or mineral water if either of them is not enough. You should have a pliable and non-sticky dough. Cover it with a moist cloth and let it rest for 45 min.

Chop the parsley and mix it with cheese.

Take a small piece from the dough and flatten it with your hands. You can do this on the counter. Put a tsp of cheese mixture on it and close it up folding the edges upwards like a bundle. Do the same for the rest of the dough. Place a parchment paper in a baking tray and place the pogacas on it. The folded side of pogacas should be at the bottom to have a ball shape.

Pre-heat the oven at 180 C.

Beat the egg yolk well and coat all the pogacas with it using a brush. And sprinkle poppy seeds on each pogaca. Bake them about 30 minutes until they get golden.

I love them when they are still warm, so after taking them out from oven, I throw a few of them into my mouth.

Tip: Use mineral water, not regular water for its dough.

Note: These ingredients make about 40 pogacas as I make them so small that you can eat them in just two bites. You can make them bigger if you like or you can use the half of these ingredients if you want fewer.
